Nico and Carol Castel combine their skills, talents and vast
experience to offer opera lovers, professionals and advanced
students private coaching, educational materials and performance
opportunities. While based in New York (due to Nico's 33 year
affiliation with the Metropolitan Opera), an extensive master
class schedule, world renowned diction
publications and unique diction coaching by tape, allows
them to share their experience with opera professionals worldwide,
in addition to offering private coaching and their unique "Making
It Professional" class series in New York.

Nico Castel, one of the world's pre-eminent character operatic
tenors with over 200 roles in his repertoire, is celebrating his
33rd year with the Metropolitan Opera Company, including 23 years
as staff diction coach. He is on the staff of the Juilliard School
and travels to conduct master classes and teach at a number of
prominent music schools, universities and opera companies. He
is the author of the authoritative phonetic translations of the
major operas, the Complete Operatic
Libretti Series, now with 17 volumes. |
Carol Castel combines her experience as stage director, vocal
coach and teacher to help singers realize their highest potential
as dramatic artists. She is Co-artistic director and Stage Director
of the NUOVA young artists program in Edmonton, Canada. Ms. Castel
was Artistic Director of the Delware Valley Opera Company in Narrowsburg,
New York for nine years. She has authored several opera education
programs for children. She has a voice studio in New York and
teaches classes and workshops throughout the world for young singers
and professionals alike. Her private teaching, master classes
and workshops include "Acting for Singers", "Finding the Artist
Within", "The Creative Process for Singers" and "Performance Techniques
and Practices". She and her husband, Nico Castel, team teach the
highly regarded "Making It Professional" workshop series in New
